Do I have to sign up to make a QR code?

No. Pick a use case on the home page, paste a URL, hit download. The PNG drops in your downloads folder in 30 seconds. You only need an account if you want a dynamic code (one whose destination you can change later) or scan analytics.

What types of QR codes can I make?

URL, WiFi, Email, vCard (digital business card), SMS, plain text, App-Store router, Spotify song/playlist, Venmo / PayPal links, calendar events, and Bitcoin / crypto wallet addresses. Twelve curated use-case templates (bachelor party, bar menu, wedding, lost-pet, scavenger hunt, golf tournament, etc.) wrap these into one-click setups.

Will it work with every phone?

Yes. Every iPhone since iOS 11 (2017) and every Android phone since Android 8 (2017) reads QR codes natively from the camera. No app required for the scanner.

What's the difference between static and dynamic?

Accepted Answer

Static codes bake the URL directly into the pattern — the code IS the URL. Dynamic codes point to a short redirect we host, which routes to your real URL. Static is free forever and works without us. Dynamic lets you change the destination later, track scans, and route by time of day. Most casual uses are fine with static.

Do dynamic codes expire if I cancel my subscription?

We freeze them in read-only mode but they keep redirecting to whatever destination you last set. We don't break the codes you've printed. (This isn't an industry standard — most providers DO kill your codes when you cancel. Read the fine print on competitor sites.)

What happens if you go out of business?

Honest answer: every dynamic QR provider's codes die if the company dies — that's the inherent fragility of the model. If you need codes that work forever no matter what, use static codes. We've also published instructions for self-hosting your dynamic redirects if you want a backup plan.

What can I track?

Accepted Answer

For dynamic codes: total scans, unique scans (deduplicated by device + 24h window), city-level location (from IP, not GPS), device type (iOS/Android/desktop), browser, and time of scan. UTM parameters pass through to Google Analytics or whatever you use downstream.

Is the location tracking precise?

Accepted Answer

City-level only, not street-level — it's IP-based geolocation, not GPS. We never request location permission from the scanner. If you need precise per-placement data, use a different code per location and look at scan counts.

Is this GDPR / privacy compliant?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Scans are logged anonymously (no cookies, no fingerprinting). IP is stored hashed for de-duplication, then dropped. We don't sell scan data. EU users see a one-line notice on the destination page if you've enabled tracking.

Can I add my logo to the QR code?

Accepted Answer

Yes — Pro plan and up. Embed any PNG / SVG. The error-correction engine ensures the code still scans even with a logo covering 20-30% of the surface.

Will fancy colors / patterns make my code unscannable?

Accepted Answer

We auto-validate every code against contrast and pattern density rules — you can't accidentally make an unscannable one through our editor. The most common scan-killer is light-on-dark (light QR on dark background); some older Android camera apps choke on it. Stick with dark-on-light if your audience skews older or rural.

What's actually free?

1 static QR code, unlimited scans, PNG download, basic colors, all 12 use-case templates, and the destination builder (with a small CreateQRCodes watermark). That's enough for a single wedding, single yard sign, single business card.

Can I cancel anytime?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Sub-second cancellation in your billing settings. We don't email you to plead. Existing dynamic codes keep redirecting (read-only mode), and your account data is yours to download for 90 days post-cancel.

Do you have a refund policy?
