Question 1

Do I have to sign up to make a QR code?

Accepted Answer

No. Pick a use case on the home page, paste a URL, hit download. The PNG drops in your downloads folder in 30 seconds. You only need an account if you want a dynamic code (one whose destination you can change later) or scan analytics.

Question 2

What types of QR codes can I make?

Accepted Answer

URL, WiFi, Email, vCard (digital business card), SMS, plain text, App-Store router, Spotify song/playlist, Venmo / PayPal links, calendar events, and crypto paper wallets (a new BTC, ETH, LTC or DOGE wallet generated in your browser). Twelve curated use-case templates (bachelor party, bar menu, wedding, lost-pet, scavenger hunt, golf tournament, etc.) wrap these into one-click setups.

Question 3

Will it work with every phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every iPhone since iOS 11 (2017) and every Android phone since Android 8 (2017) reads QR codes natively from the camera. No app required for the scanner.

Question 4

What's the difference between static and dynamic?

Accepted Answer

Static codes bake the URL directly into the pattern — the code IS the URL. Dynamic codes point to a short redirect we host, which routes to your real URL. Static is free forever and works without us. Dynamic lets you change the destination later, track scans, and route by time of day. Most casual uses are fine with static.

Question 5

Do dynamic codes expire if I cancel my subscription?

Accepted Answer

They keep redirecting to whatever destination you last set — for as long as the code exists. Nothing about cancelling breaks a code you've already printed. What you lose on the free tier is the paid tooling around it: scan analytics and the exports stop, and you're back to the free plan's code limit for anything new. (Not breaking printed codes isn't an industry standard — many providers DO kill your codes when you cancel. Read the fine print on competitor sites.)

Question 6

What happens if you go out of business?

Accepted Answer

Honest answer: every dynamic QR provider's codes die if the company dies — that's the inherent fragility of the model, ours included. If you need codes that work no matter what, use static codes: they encode the destination directly and depend on nobody. For dynamic codes, the practical protection is to keep your own record of which code points where, so you could re-create them elsewhere. We don't yet give you a one-click list export for that — it's on the list, and until it lands, a note somewhere outside our system is the honest advice.

Question 7

What can I track?

Accepted Answer

For dynamic codes: total scans, a unique-scan estimate, country, device type (mobile/desktop/tablet), OS, browser, referrer, time of scan, and any UTM tags on the tracking URL. The dashboard charts the totals, the unique count, country, device and a day-by-day timeline; the CSV export gives you every column, including browser, OS and UTM.

Question 8

How exact is the unique-scan number?

Accepted Answer

It's an estimate, not a headcount. We group scans by device signature over the range you're viewing — there's no cookie and no login on the scanner's side, so two people on the same phone model can land in the same bucket and one person using two browsers can count as two. Use total scans for volume and the unique count for a rough sense of reach.

Question 9

Is the location tracking precise?

Accepted Answer

Country only. We record the country the scan came from (resolved by our network edge, not GPS) — not the city and not the street. We never request location permission from the scanner. If you need per-placement data, use a different code per location and compare scan counts.

Question 10

Is this GDPR / privacy compliant?

Accepted Answer

Scans are logged anonymously — no cookies are set and no login is required. We do not store the scanner's IP address on the scan record at all; what we keep is the country, device type, OS, browser, user-agent string, referrer and timestamp. We don't sell scan data. You're the data controller for where your code points, so if your destination page needs a consent notice, that's yours to add.

Question 11

Can I add my logo to the QR code?

Accepted Answer

Yes — Pro plan and up. Embed any PNG / SVG. The error-correction engine ensures the code still scans even with a logo covering 20-30% of the surface.

Question 12

Will fancy colors / patterns make my code unscannable?

Accepted Answer

We check contrast live as you design and warn you when a colour pair is too weak to scan reliably — that's the failure we can catch automatically. We don't check pattern density, so a very long payload (a full vCard, a long URL with tracking parameters) can still produce a dense code that struggles at small print sizes; keep the content short and print it bigger. The most common scan-killer is light-on-dark (light QR on dark background); some older Android camera apps choke on it. Stick with dark-on-light if your audience skews older or rural, and always test-scan the final print.

Question 13

What's actually free?

Accepted Answer

1 static QR code, unlimited scans, PNG download, basic colors, all 12 use-case templates, and the destination builder (with a small CreateQRCodes watermark). That's enough for a single wedding, single yard sign, single business card.

Question 14

Can I cancel anytime?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Sub-second cancellation in your billing settings. We don't email you to plead. Existing dynamic codes keep redirecting. One thing to do first: export anything you want to keep before you cancel — scan history stays in your account, but the CSV and PDF exports are a paid feature, so they stop working the moment the plan ends. Your data isn't deleted; you just can't download it again until you resubscribe.

Question 15

Do you have a refund policy?

Accepted Answer

If you're within 14 days of your first paid month and you've made fewer than 5 dynamic codes, we'll refund you no questions asked. Email hello@createqrcodes.net with your account email.
